When birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, meetings, trips, and other special or unavoidable events become too many to remember, a tool like Remind-Me can really save you time and worries. Its daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly views of the calendar allow you both to take an overview of all your tasks and events and to have access to more detailed information about each of them at a mouse click.
Remind-Me is a very basic calendar utility designed to work in the background and to notify you of any forthcoming event or special date following your preferences. It comes with an extensive list of public holidays and festivities (only useful for US and Canadian residents, regrettably) to which you just have to add your own special dates – birthdays, anniversaries, exams, special dinners or lunches you don’t want to miss, you name it. You can create as many categories as you need to have all your reminders nicely organized, and search for any special event just by typing a few keywords.
Each event can be set to trigger a notification either at startup or at a given date and time prior to the event itself. The notification can be just a simple alarm on your PC, or can be sent to you via e-mail and include an audio message if you wish.
The usefulness of a tool like Remind-Me is out of the question – its price tag, however, may raise some doubts to potential users. This is not the only calendar utility out there, and many of its competitors won’t charge you anything for their services. Not to mention the many calendar utilities embedded in other tools already installed on your computer, such as some well-known e-mail clients. Despise that, Remind-Me is a tool certainly worth trying, and you can do so by downloading one of its free trials – you will find a regular version and two specific ones to synchronize the program with your Google and Outlook accounts and calendars.
